Ill Manors: Television

What is the Jonathan Ross show, channels it has appeared on, why its controversial?

The Jonathan Ross show is a prime time TV show that airs on ITV 1 at around 9/10 o'clock in the evening. The Ross' show, prior to this one used to air on BBC 1 but his contract with the BBc ended and he did not renew it. Ross has been involved in many controversial moments, including one with Russell Brand involving the two being involved in a big controversy about prank calling, this resulted in Brand resigning from the BBC and Ross being suspended for 12 weeks with no pay. This damaged the two's image and caused major media scepticism for a while.

Target audience?(demographic/psychographic)

First of all, i believe the typical audience for a Plan B interview would be young and older teenagers and young adults, this is because Rap music is typically aimed at this segment. Also there would be a higher male audience in comparison to females as Plan B has more fans that are male as more of his interviews may appeal to them. The socio-economic group for his audience would also be the C2 D and E's as more working class people may be more interested in his music. Because of this specific audience different groups of people will get different feelings about this music video. For example the groups in the lower part of the socio-economic classifications would get different pleasures out of this video than middle/higher class citizens. For example an 18 year old male may feel like Plan B is communicating with him directly due to the direct address and because he may idolise him as an artist making him and his loyal fan audience followers from an opinion leader However there may also be more of a mainstream audience as the show is aired on a prime time TV slot which a lot of the mainstreamers from the psychographic group may be interested in.

Audience appeal for a show like Jonathan Ross?

People may be interested in a show like Jonathan Ross for different reasons as the audience range for this show is quite large as people won't just be fans of Plan B but may also enjoy chat shows, current events, comedy and may enjoy Jonathan Ross himself so due to the many audience pleasures. The show may also be aimed more at families as it is aired during a prime time slot so would therefore be appealed to different aspects of the interview.

How is Plan B (the brand) represented?

Plan B first started talking about how he was kicked out of school at an early age so with the background story we then see he how we developed and became determined and passionate. He wants to change the representation made about youths and goes on to state that this issue has been going over for a very long time and is getting worse and if affecting more and more youths as time progresses. This then makes Ben Drew seem like a truth speaker/ opinion leader.
